Maybe you do not know of this Prayer Group which meets at 9.30 am in the Lady Chapel for half an hour on the first Tuesday of each month.
The object is to pray informally for any topical matters, major events coming up, like the arrival of the new Vicar, the clergy and other leaders and the various regular outreach projects. Also we pray for any national or international issues, the sick and bereaved in this parish. It is led in turn by one of the regular members and has no prescribed format.
This is in no way an exclusive group. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in or just to sit and pray quietly. We would love to welcome new people to the St Peter’s Group. Please come along to see whether it is something you would like to join.

St Peter’s is a late Victorian Grade II listed building. With the increased costs of repairing and maintaining our beautiful and historic church it was decided some 20 years ago to set up the Friends’ of the Church. Since then the Friends have raised over £150,000 towards maintaining the fabric of the building. In recent years we have had to repair the West front, the East front, replace the roofs of the Vicar’s vestry and the Lady Chapel and recently replaced the lighting. Currently we are trying to raise money to repair the damage done to our organ by water from a leaking roof.
Primarily St Peter’s is a place of worship. However the church is also a centrepiece of our community and is used by various organisations and Festivals. It is therefore essential to keep it in good shape not only for ourselves but for future generations.
If you are already a member of the Friends thank you for your continued support. If you are not already a Friend please consider joining us in this valuable work. The Annual subscription is £10.00 (minimum), or why not join as a Lifetime Member (minimum £100). Application forms available at the back of the Church or from our Administrator, Fran Mills see Contact us.
The Friends organise several social events during the year which are well-attended and good fun. You may also like to consider joining our 100 Club for £1 a month with a chance of winning a monthly cash prize - contact David Waddington on 01395 443280.
The Friends of St Peters thank everyone who supported the Advent Fair. The Fair made a profit of £789.
All are welcome and we are open to consider any new ideas for events in the year
